Vera Ristorante will be opening in Market Square in Newburyport early next year in the space once occupied by West Row Café and Bar.
Banner printing is often used at such locations to make announcements of restaurants that are coming to town.
John Santaniello, owner of the restaurant, said that his Italian eatery will have 112 seats both indoors and outdoors, and will serve many dishes never seen before by its guests. He and his partner, David Callan, purchased the café and were also able to acquire its liquor license. Santaniello added that what will distinguish his restaurant from the pizza and other Italian eateries in town will be the bar and communal lounge where people can remain after their meals to enjoy drinks and each other’s company.
The two plan to renovate the bar and the interior. The exterior will have new awnings. They also plan to install a brick oven from Italy, which can heat up to 1,000°F so that a Neapolitan-style pizza can bake in 60 to 90 seconds.
Mark Iannuccillo, vice president of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his excitement about Vera Ristorante in that having more places to eat translates into more people coming the downtown area.
The planned opening of Vera Ristorante is late January or early February.
