Holiday program supports Newburyport families in need

The annual Holiday Giving Program, held by the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center in Newburyport, is currently underway.

According to Suzanne Dubus, CEO of the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, this program is important to what the center does to help families. She notes that many find this time of year to be a difficult one and the Center is very appreciative of the support it gets from local businesses and members of the community who have provided Books, gifts, and gift cards the families can use throughout the year.

There are three categories in the Holiday Giving Program: Adopt a Family, Gift Cards, and a Book for Every Child. Someone in the community who wants to share and is able to give, is paired with a family who is facing some hard times. Using flyer printing is one way the Center can let people in the community know more about the program and how it works.

The Gift Card program suggests that people donate gift cards for retail and grocery stores, as well as gas, so that families can be helped with additional expenses throughout the year. Each child is ensured to receive a book through the Book for Every Child Program. Recommended Books are available for purchase at the Jabberwocky Bookshop in Newburyport, while the Adopt a Family matches a family being served by the Center with volunteers.
