A campaign was recently held throughout northeastern Essex County to support Our Neighbors’ Table, an organization with the goal of providing nourishing food to the needy.
Called Fill Your Neighbor’s Plate, the campaign featured several restaurants in Amesbury as well as three Newburyport restaurants, including the Port Tavern, Michael’s Harborside, Metzy’s Cantina, and The Grog. Funds were collected by diners adding a tax-deductible donation to their restaurant bill.
An amount of $10 to be added to a bill would provide a week’s worth of fresh dairy, meats, and produce to a guest shopping in a market at Our Neighbors’ Table. A donation of $25 would enable a family of four to have a Wednesday Meal at Our Neighbors’ Table for a month. A donation of $1 enables a family or individual to have another meal on their table.
Nearly 1,000 residents are provided relief from hunger through Our Neighbors’ Table every week. The organization has the Wednesday Meal and home and local delivery programs. Among the cities and towns served by Our Neighbors’ Table are Newburyport, West Newbury, Amesbury, and South Hampton, New Hampshire.
Poster printing companies can be hired to create Posters that can be displayed throughout these cities and towns so people in need of food will know where they can go to find a meal or free fresh produce and meats.
