Drive for school supplies being held in Newburyport

A School Supply Drive for School on Wheels of Massachusetts is being held this month by Newburyport Development.

The School on Wheels is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the emotional, social, and academic growth of students who are homeless. Community Outreach Director for School on Wheels, Barbara Fox, said that School on Wheels is committed to ensuring that a backpack filled with all the items students need to be successful in the classroom is available to the students they serve. She added that having these supplies is important to students as they enter their first day of class.

Needed donations include new and unused Backpacks, Pens with blue or black ink, washable markers, pencils and pencil sharpeners, and composition Notebooks, among other items. Monetary donations can also be made online for the purchase of school supplies. Flyer printing can be used to provide a complete list of such needed school supplies to facilitate the donation process.

Director of Marketing for Newburyport Development, Rebekah Macchia, expressed her pleasure on behalf of Newburyport Development in continuing its partnership with School on Wheels of Massachusetts to hold this donation drive of school supplies to help students begin the school year with the needed school supplies.

All the proceeds from the drive will support School on Wheels. The drive ends on Sunday August 25.
