Dance troupe plans new performance

The Exit Dance Theatre of Newburyport will be hosting a concert of several works for an evening of choreography this weekend.

No doubt the group is turning to a variety of printing services to let people in the community become aware of this special performance.

One piece has music by Trent Reznor and Steve Roach and is called ‘Dreams’, and attendees will also get to see film imagery from Gordon Pryzybyla.

A piece titled ‘Between’ is a collaboration of Jen Steeves, Julie Pike Edmond, and Wendy Hamel, with vocals from Agnes Obel. ‘The Burning’, meanwhile, is a debuting piece with Italian songs by Michela Musolina and Spaccanapoli.

There will also be film works by artist, photographer, and filmmaker Jeremiah Story, with the Hyperbole Dance Company as guests.

The Exit Dance Theatre was founded in 1987 by Fontaine Dollas Dubus, Susan Atwood, Stephen Haley, Cheryl Fisher Schwind, and Linda Lazzaro Mangini, and is located in the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport. The style of the theatre is based on improvisation and collaboration, with a turn away from traditional styles to more open ways to express stories and images. According to the theater’s website, its work has been described by audiences as “innovative, passionate, and authentic”.

The show is to be performed tomorrow, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, at 8:00 pm.
