Environmental Partners (EP) has been named a winner of the Silver Engineering Excellence Award for 2020 from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA). It was given to the company for its work in Newburyport on a biofilter technology system.
Such announcements are often made known throughout the community with banner printing.
President of ACEC/MA and Vice President at Symmes Maini & McKee Associates, Jennifer Howe, said that these awards celebrate excellence, ingenuity, and innovation in engineering, and are judged by representatives from academia, the construction industry, the architectural community, and the public sector.
The city of Newburyport hired EP to serve as project design engineer and identify sources odor in the city, and design what was needed to alleviate them. The economy of the city relies on being a coastal and riverfront destination for recreation, entertainment, cultural, and historic attractions, but has been faced with a longstanding issue with odors from wastewater.
Residents wanted a quick solution to such problems and the city took action. EP provided a unique integrated solution with several approaches to control and prevent these odors, and coordinated process upgrades with capital improvements. Since EP has completed the project, there have been no complaints from residents regarding odors.
The award will be given out at the Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala of the ACEC/MA next year.
