A significant grant from the Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) has been awarded to the Amesbury Carriage Museum (ACM) to help with the development of its Industrial History Center, which is currently under construction.
The announcement of such grants is often made known to the public through flyer printing services.
The $120,000 grant needs to be matched to encourage donations from the community. The funds will go towards part of the new facility which will span 2,700 square feet and is expected to cost $670,000 to build. The facility will offer programs that will celebrate the people and industry of Amesbury. Residents of Newburyport may want to visit this Center once it is opened to the public.
The CFF is administered by MassDevelopment and the Mass Cultural Council to support capital projects that benefit municipal cultural and non-profit organizations and their communities across the Commonwealth. The state legislature has authorized the spending of $9.3 million as part of the capital spending plan for Fiscal Year 2020. These funds are then allocated by the governor.
John Mayer, executive director of the ACM, expressed his excitement when he learned about the grant. He said that such support from the Mass Cultural Council is a validation of the value of the project and added that the grant helps the museum move closer to completely funding the project.
