Police officers to be recognized at special dinner in Malden
Dozens of local law enforcement officers will be honored this month by the Irish American Police Officers Association (IAPOA) at the Malden Irish American Club Hall.
About 50 officers from police departments throughout the state will be given awards for their investigations, humanitarian work, meritorious and community service, and acts of valor.
President of the IAPOA, Robert Sweetland, commented that these officers have shown they are truly dedicated to protecting and serving their communities. He added that the dinner at which they will be recognized is a great way to celebrate, recognize, and honor their efforts in keeping the communities around the state safe.
Communities around the state can be informed of such honors and recognitions through printing services.
Among the awards given out will be the Life Saving Award to Katelyn Murphy and Noelle Bowie-Pierce, police officers from Malden. Two awards will be given out posthumously – one is the Medal of Honor to Weymouth Police Sergeant Michael Chesna and Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon. The Community Service Award will be given to Michael Delehanty, a police detective from Winthrop.
The awards will be presented this Saturday, May 4. Tickets to the awards dinner need to be purchased in advanced. The IAPOA is also looking for sponsors of the dinner, whether businesses, individuals, or organizations.
