Lowells UMass to host MLK dinner

The Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Massachusetts Lowell will hold the 12th Annual MLK Jr. Celebration Dinner next month.

Open to all faculty, staff, and students of UMass, the annual dinner is a centerpiece and midpoint to the university’s celebrations of MLK week. The dinner will celebrate and highlight the campus community leaders who are striving in the steps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as honor the past voices and sacrifices of the Civil Rights Movement.

The evening will feature speeches from inspirational speakers, as well as student performances, based on the event’s theme of "Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow; Unsung Heroes." Attendees of the dinner will have the chance to connect and network with both current students and staff as well as alumni. Those interested are also encouraged to nominate a deserving faculty member, staff, or student for this year’s MLK Distinguished Service Awards.

During celebratory dinners such as this, special guests may be seated at specific tables, which may be designated by decorative place cards. Organizers could get these printed at local Stationery printers.

The MLK dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It will take place at Moloney Hall University Crossing, which is located at 220 Pawtucket Street, Lowell. It is free to reserve a spot.
