EforAll Lowell-Lawrence recently gave out $10,000 to businesses that participated in the 2018 Summer Accelerator, a three-month program to help startups and businesses in their early stages, and the winner is from Lowell.
The Summer Accelerator comprised 15 young companies that had been chosen from a field of 44. They met twice a week as a cohort for a period of three months, and each business met separately with three mentors weekly. In total, 13 of the 15 companies that started finished the course and pitched their ideas to a panel, and six were give cash awards.
The winner was Koshari Mama, a food business that is a pop-up store selling Egyptian street food. The business was founded by the mother-and-daughter team of Sahar Ahmed and Dina Fahim, who earned a prize of $4,000. They currently sell to customers in Lowell’s Mill No. 5, as well as farmers’ markets in the Boston region. With plans to expand in 2019, new businesses like this can work with a business card printing company to create necessary tools to develop brand awareness.
Sahar said that her company received help from EforAll beyond anything she could have thought of, and went on to thank her team of mentors and coaches for their assistance in guiding the company toward its goals. She added that she felt working with EforAll had given her and her daughter a new family.
