Museum of Bird Art invites kids to be Wild at Art

The Museum of American Bird Art and Massachusetts Audubon Society will be hosting an upcoming spring camp in Canton looking to introduce children to the joys of both art and nature.

The day camp uses games, stories and outdoor exploration to engage students with the flora and fauna of New England, ranging from birds to trees to kid-favorite slimy green things. Each day will encourage kids to create art in a variety of media. The camp is aimed to coincide with the vacation week marked in many Massachusetts schools, and to encourage young creativity that could result in interest towards painting, sculpture, graphic design, and other art Forms. The program is aimed at kids ages 5 to 6, but may interest those up to 11.

The April week also serves as a dry (or maybe wet, depending on the spring weather) run for an upcoming summer full of camps hosted by Mass Audubon. These camps will also feature a combination of nature and art, with titles like “Dig it Design: Animal Architecture”, “Nature’s Serenade: Acoustic Ecology”, and “Nature Photography: Build a Digital Camera to Create Wild Art.” The society has started advertising these upcoming camps through brochure printing and digital outreach. It has been running similar camps for more than a decade with much success.

The “Wild at Art” camp will be held at the Museum of American Bird Art and its surrounding environs from April 20 to 24.
