The Museum of American Bird Art is running a four-session ceramic sculpting class in Canton this summer.
The Ceramic Toadstool and Mushroom House Workshop will cover both sculpting and glaze techniques. Instructor August Hammill will teach participants to make three types of mushrooms with distinct styles and a toadstool garden house, and to finish them with glaze.
Registration is required. The price is $120 for Mass Audubon members and $140 for non-members. The class is intended for adults, and participants do not need any prior experience with ceramics. Supplies will be provided, and participants can take home the pieces they create. Parking is in the gravel lot by the yellow barn.
Mass Audubon is a conservation organization that works on land and wildlife protection, runs wildlife sanctuaries around Massachusetts and offers educational programs for adults and children. Its art collection is housed at the Museum of American Bird Art. While the gallery is currently closed and Mass Audubon is designing a new space, the museum is continuing to run nature-themed art and educational programs. Museums often use poster printing services to promote their classes and other special events.
The Ceramic Toadstool and Mushroom House Workshop will be on Wednesday evenings – August 5, 12, 19 and 26 – from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Museum of American Bird Art’s Education Center in Canton.
