West-West Andover to be feature of next talk

The popular Neighborhood program, where residents learn about the history of their neighborhood, has returned to the Andover Historical Society.

After recently discussing the Ballardvale and Shawsheen areas of the town, next on the agenda of the program are Stories of Haggetts Pond and “West-West” Andover.

There will be three to four speakers each telling an intriguing and fun story for 15 minutes about a part of the area. Some of the topics to be covered are Haggetts Pond being used for recreation before becoming the main water supply for the town, what Osgood Street was like before the building of Interstate 93, how the Andover Village Improvement Society has preserved land and green space once inhabited by the Penacook people, and the background behind Stone Farm and its Therapeutic Riding Program.

According to Elaine Clements, Executive Director of the Andover Historical Society, the podium for the presentation will be shared with our community partners, the Andover Village Improvement Society and Iron Stone Farm.

The talk will be held at 1:00 pm and again at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 10 at the Historical Society. It is free of charge and open to the public. The Society could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer that could be distributed to residents to attract as many people as possible to the talk.
