School in Andover completes dorm renovation

The renovation of Adams House at Phillips Academy in Andover has been completed.

This is one of the historic dormitories of the school, located near the center of the campus. This project is one of a series of updates whose goal is to preserve the architectural heritage of the academy while also improving housing for students.

To highlight such completed renovations, high-quality flyer printing can be used to create informational Brochures distributed across campus and to alumni.

The general contractor was Erland Construction, while the designer of the project was Jones Architecture of Salem. The residence spans 15,000 square feet and the work included system upgrades and a complete renovation of the interior. Included in the scope of the project were new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems; improved energy efficiency and insulation; and more modern interior finishes while still maintaining the historic character of the building. Residential areas have been upgraded, and common areas have been reconfigured to support contemporary campus life.

The facilities staff of Phillips Academy worked closely with the project team to balance student comfort with sustainability and historic preservation.

Adams House was originally built in 1930 and has been a residence for students at the academy for many years. The renovation brings the building up to modern safety and accessibility standards while preserving its traditional period architectural details and brick exterior.
