Unique concert to be featured in Andover area

Black History Month is being celebrated with several events in the area, one of which will be a special concert that residents of nearby Andover might want to attend.

Such unique concerts are often promoted throughout a town and surrounding communities with poster printing.

James Dargan will be performing the concert Oh, Glory! in the sanctuary of the North Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Academy Road. Dargan performs programs that combine the spoken word and music. There is a specific social theme in each concert, which features music of varying genres with commentary on how this music is connected to life.

Oh, Glory! is a concert that will celebrate Black American musical history. The music of five well-known Black musicians will be aired to honor their accomplishments and invoke their spirits. The musicians to be celebrated will be Robert McFerrin, Sr., Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Roiland Hayes, and Paul Robeson.

Dargan is from North Carolina and is now based in New York City. He is a writer and musician who sings, composes music, teaches, and plays the violin, sharing his carefully curated programs throughout Europe and the United States.

The concert will be from 3:00 to 4:30 pm this Sunday, February 18 and is free and open to the public. Seating is limited so advanced reservations are recommended.
