Prestigious school in Andover selects new leader

Dr. Raynard Kington will become the new head of school at Phillips Academy in Andover, taking over from Jim Ventre, interim head of school.

Announcements such as this one are often made known throughout a school campus and the community through banner printing.

In his current position, Kingston is the president of Grinnell College in Iowa. His background is in medicine with a degree from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked at RAND and has been an acting director at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The chair of the head of school search committee, Amy Falls, expressed her excitement about Kingston’s acceptance of the offer to lead the school, noting his academic credentials and extensive management experience. She added that his core principles and values align with those of the school and he will be a force that will enable graduates to effect significant changes in their communities and around the world.

Kingston said he was looking forward to becoming part of this historic institution and joining the Andover community, adding that the school is much like his present institution that has a legacy of diversity and academic excellence.

Kingston will begin his position in the summer of 2020.
