North Andover hosts annual festive parade

The Santa Parade is returning to North Andover during the Thanksgiving weekend. The Police Association and the Festival Committee of North Andover have hosted the parade every year for the past half century.

According to Police Lt. E.J. Foulds, there will be 35 different floats, bands, and community organizations taking part. He said this ranges from the Brownie Troop, which is the smallest, to the largest marching band. Some of the featured and favorite among the bands are the Sixties Invasion, Sax Pack, and the North Andover March Band.

There will also be several dance schools, including the North Andover School of Dance, the Center for the Performing Arts, and the Nancy Chippendales. Numerous floats by North Andover groups will also participate in the parade, with themes including Charlie Brown, Frozen, and a salute to veterans.

In addition, parade-goers can expect to see a classic car show with close to 50 antique automobiles that will be accompanying the parade.

The route runs from the North Andover Middle School, down Main Street, on to Water Street, then returning to Main Street and ending on Sutton Street.

It will begin at noon next Saturday, November 29, come rain or shine. Most likely, banner printing is being used throughout town to announce this year’s date for the event so people can make plans to enjoy the festivities.
