The Andover Public Schools is one of the recipients of the 2023 Clean School Bus Program of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The program will give rebates to the district to help the district and NRT Bus, its transportation vendor, to purchase 25 new electric school buses that will be added to the fleet of the district.
Such school districts may turn to flyer printing to inform a town of such funding and its benefits for the community.
Superintendent Magda Parvey said that these new buses will be a great addition to the district. Parvey added that the district made a commitment to providing sustainable transportation in 2022 and said that once these buses are operational, 75 percent of the buses used by the district will provide a healthy and clean environment for the town.
The district already has five electric school buses which it purchased in 2022. The assistant superintendent of district Finance and Administration, Keith Taverna, thanked NRT for their efforts to reduce the emissions created by school buses which are more traditional.
Senior Vice President of NRT Bus, Tim Sheehan, said that his company welcomes this funding for the 25 electric buses that will be added into its fleet of the Andover school district. He also thanked the EPA for being able to incorporate this technology that will improve the quality of the air in the community and provide safe and reliable transportation.
