The Draper Block development on Main Street in downtown Andover will become home to three businesses this spring.
The project originally was designed to have 12 housing units, but the plans have been changed to accommodate at least one restaurant and several retail spaces. Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays at such properties so the community is aware of such plans and their progress.
LaRosa Restaurant which is currently on Barnard Street will have a location in the development. Kid Casso, an art studio for young people, will also relocate to the development. Laura-Marie Small, owner of Kid Casso, said the studio needed more space and she felt that this would be a better way to connect with the community. Kid Casso offers programs for children between the toddler ages to those in high school.
Touchstone Closing, LLC will also be moving to the Draper Block. Touchstone is a law firm that specializes in property closings and has many years of experience negotiating purchase and sale agreements.
Paul Kneeland from Touchdown LLC which is developing the property said that a new sewer and water system is under construction at the back of the building to accommodate the new tenants.
The Draper Block was built around 1820 by Warren F. Draper, a businessman who later converted his house into a space for businesses during the summer of 1869.
