Andover to offer competition for electricity supply

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has notified the town of Andover that preliminary approval has been granted for its Municipal Aggregation Plan. This is pending the filing of a compliance document.

This is a major step in the progress of establishing the Andover Community Power (ACP) program, which has been anticipated for quite some time by the community. The plan was originally submitted to the DPU by the town in Summer 2021. News of such important developments in a long-awaited process is often spread throughout a community with informative flyer printing.

A Municipal Aggregation Plan is a program where towns and cities offer electricity supply programs to provide businesses and residents with alternatives to the basic supply products of utility companies and other third party suppliers of electricity. The ACP is a voluntary program that will provide Andover with more local renewable energy, as well as competitive and stable pricing.

Once the town submits its compliance documentation and the document meets the requirements of the DPU, the town will begin its procurement process to choose and develop an agreement with a supplier of electricity for the ACP. During this process, matters to be finalized will include the price for the Andover Standard product, the amount of local renewable energy, and other optional products of electricity offered.
