Andover plans festivities to commemorate town milestone

The planning of the celebration of the 375th anniversary of the town of Andover is getting underway by town officials.

Chairman of the Andover 375th Anniversary Committee, Paul MacKay, said that the town has traditionally celebrated its founding with many festivities. He added that the Committee has developed events that are not only exciting and fun but will enable residents to learn more about the history of the town.

MacKay pointed out that partners, sponsors, guests, and residents have contributed to anniversary celebrations in the past and this one will be no different from the rest. He expressed his confidence that everyone will support this celebration to make it a memorable one for many years to come.

There has been no announcement of the dates of any events that have been established. The public will be provided with more information about such events through social media, the town’s website, radio, local newspapers, and other public displays which will most likely be created by local Print shops.

The 375th Committee has created a survey, called “What do I love about Andover?,” that it is asking residents to complete. MacKay said that filling out this survey will be fun and one way that residents can contribute to the anniversary celebration.

Andover was incorporated on May 6, 1646. Events are being planned to run into May of next year.
