Phillips Academy in Andover and its Addison Gallery of American Art have announced their series of exhibitions for 2019 through 2020.
The Addison is known for its American art and has one of the most significant such collections in the world. Judith F. Dolkart is the director of the Addison and she has continued the museum’s exploration of the theme of what makes America.
Flyer printing is often used to publish and promote such exhibitions and provide more details about specific exhibit topics and dates of display.
An exhibit that will be opened the entire academic years is an exhibit on the ecology and art of America in the 19th Century. This exhibit examines how European Americans coming to this country, and the new world developed their knowledge and appreciation of the environment around them which changed the ecology of North America.
Opened until November 15 is the exhibit of “George Washington: American Icon.” The Addison has an extensive collection of images of Washington and displays them to examine the first president of the United States as an icon of American culture and art. There are photographs, decorative arts, drawings, and prints in the exhibit, employed to examine the ideology of Washington and its effect on the public image of all presidents following him and on national identity.
