Andover creates survey to develop climate plan

A survey has been released by the town of Andover that will enable it to develop its first Climate Action and Sustainability Plan.

Officials from the town are looking to gather input from businesses, homeowners, renters, and students about the sustainability and climate priorities in the community. The town is hoping that at least 1,000 people will fill out the survey or provide additional input to the town. Poster printing used around town can be used to encourage residents to fill out such surveys.

Director of Sustainability for Andover, Joyce Losick-Yang, said that the Climate Action and Sustainability Plan will provide a comprehensive strategy that will enable the town to reduce greenhouse emissions in Andover for many years to come. Losick-Yang added that the survey will ensure that the plan aligns with the priorities and vision of the community and urged all residents to participate in this important process.

A steering committee is guiding the development of the Climate Action Plan. Among those on the committee are members of the community who have expertise in resilience and sustainability. The plan is intended to include best practices for climate resilience and ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are part of all proposed climate actions.

The survey is available online and takes about 10 minutes to complete. The due date for all responses is Wednesday, April 5.
