Recently, officials with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs have issued a progress report on the new VA hospital being built in Louisville.
Ground was broken on the massive project, which is located in proximity to Brownsboro Road and U.S. 42, in 2021. The official word is that the much-anticipated medical center is almost fully enclosed, and crews are anticipating working on the perimeter fencing for the foundation on the campus’s south side this month. Also on the agenda for this month is the grading for the parking lots.
Once complete, the $840m project will be able to provide care for approximately 45,000 Louisville area veterans along with a Women’s Health Clinic, parking structures and utility plant. The new hospital will be in excess of 910,000 square feet and will include 100 beds, with a parking structure capable of hold 2,000 vehicles.
Brochure printing services are used by hospitals to help them provide their patients with information.
The push for the new Veteran Hospital project began 15 years ago, but location and funding issues have hindered its progress. Through the terms of four presidents, Senator Mitch McConnell and former congressman John Yarmuth helped secure the new hospital’s funding.
The new hospital will replace the current medical center located on Zorn Avenue, off River Road, and its construction is expected to be finished in the summer of 2026. Once opened, the hospital will provide hundreds of healthcare workers with employment.
