A joint announcement from the Louisville America 250 committee and Mayor Craig Greenberg has laid out a schedule of free public activities and events to celebrate Independence Day on its 250th anniversary.
The day starts at 6:30 am with “Dawn’s Early Light”, lasting until 10 am, at Historic Locust Grove. Attendees will enjoy a free breakfast, after a reflective period and a multicultural ceremony that includes music and dance.
Following the “Star Spangled Banner” theme the next event is “Oh say! Can you see?!” which will take place from 11 am – 12:30 pm with a series of readings and performances on Metro Hall’s front steps. According to organizers included in the program will be readings of the Declaration of Independence and Paul Rvere’s Ride along with patriotic music performed by some of the touring Broadway cast members of “Hamilton”.

The exhibition entitled “I Too Am a Kentuckian” at Frazier History Museum will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 pm. Free admission will be available from 1 pm to 4 pm.
The day winds down at Waterfront Park on the TurfMutt Great Lawn from 5 pm to 10 pm with a variety of activities including live music, food vendors and family activities, closing with a fireworks display over the Ohio River.
