Manufacturer Foxconn announces $173M Louisville investment

A branch of Tiawan-based Foxconn, the world’s largest manufacturer of electronics, has chosen Louisville as the site of its first U.S. facility.

Foxconn announced on December 9th that it would be retrofitting a one-year-old 350,000-square-foot building in the vicinity of Louisville’s Riverport industrial park. Its investment of $173 million would include the assembly lines necessary for its advanced precision manufacturing, which according to the company would utilize A.I. and create 180 new jobs for Louisville workers.

The CEO of Foxconn’s U.S. operations, Ben Liaw, issued the following statement:

“By combining America’s engineering talent with Foxconn’s smart factory technologies, we will produce advanced consumer products at a scale and quality the U.S. hasn’t seen in generations.”

Foxconn contracts with major tech companies such as Sony and Vizio to build TVs, and many of Apple’s iPhones as well as assembling gaming consoles. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg apparently knows the specifics of the products the company will be manufacturing here but apparently has been sworn to secrecy. He did, however, drop hints, saying the product was something people often use. He went on to say that it was a well-known consumer product on which people can see things.

According to city officials, Foxconn, which is anticipating beginning its operations in Louisville in the third quarter of 2026, received over $3 million in incentives to come here.
