The recently vacated Humana Building, one of Louisville’s most recognizable office towers, is to be converted into a 1,000-room hotel.
Located at 500 W. Main Street, the 525,000 square-foot building will be reimagined as a convention-oriented hotel featuring multiple ballrooms, culinary and beverage concepts and more than 100,000-square-feet of meeting space.
Even with its planned for 1,000 rooms, the conversion of the 26-story Human Building will only turn it into the second largest hotel by way of room count, falling behind The Galt House Hotel with its 1,310 rooms.
Hotels can promote their features and amenities to their guests with the help of brochure printing services.
Architects are still fine tuning the design details; however, it is known that a gathering space will be made of the eighth-floor terrace while the 25th floor observation deck space and balcony will be renovated for executive meetings, weddings and other events. Another detail that has been nailed down is that 1,000 rooms will be divided between the structure’s two towers.
What hotel will occupy the building is still undecided with discussion with several companies taking place. The city is already home to around 30 hotels with a combined total of almost 7,000 rooms. Large capacity hotels are highly valued by large conventions with some groups choosing to not entertain a city where a modern convention hotel is not present.
Construction for the Humana hotel construction project is expected to start in 2027.
