Louisville restaurant repurposed for essential service

The West End Opportunity Partnership’s mission is to fund projects that will benefit West Louisville communities and their latest is a laundromat for the neighborhood of Algonquin.

The Partnership is loaning a company by the name of TGOE Holdings $500,000 to start a laundromat where the Forty Acres and a Mule Restaurant was located at the corner of Vorster Avenue and Dixie Highway. The laundromat, to be named Load And Fold, will provide an essential service that the neighborhood is needing as the closest laundromat currently is almost 3 miles away and many rentals are lacking in-unit laundry services.

TGOE company president, Donald Taylor, explained the decision to put in a laundromat as a way to invest in the Algonquin community.

CEO and President of West End Opportunity Partnership explained that the group only invests in project that will result in a community benefit. In defensive of the project Taylor said:

“It’s gonna be a safe space for everyone in the community to come to if needed...not only for laundry service, but if they’re needing a safe space.”

Additionally, Taylor mentioned that once the laundromat is in operation, part-time job opportunities will become available for people in the community.

Local Print shops supply businesses with job applications and employee handbooks.

Since its founding four years ago, West End Opportunity Partnership has provided West Louisville projects with $12 million.

Ground breaking for the new laundromat is anticipated for the end of May.
