The widening and other improvements planned for I-71 from the 65 – I-71 interchange to the I-71 – Zorn Avenue interchange is budgeted to cost $5o million. While there may be some slowing of traffic, vehicles will still be able to traverse the affected area during peak travel times. Most of the delays will take place overnight and drivers are urged to plan ahead for travel delays, use caution and heed signage.
Print shops can be relied upon to supply a wide range of signage for all sorts of purposes.
In a news release, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said:
“Our administration continues to make historic investments to improve safety and reliability on our interstates and to reduce commute times. This project along I-71 will make travel safer and more efficient for Kentucky families, visitors and businesses, while also supporting future growth in one of Louisville’s busiest corridors.”
In addition to the two miles of I-71 that will be under construction the I-71 bridge that spans the Beargrass Creek will also be demolished and reconstructed. The new bridge will be outfitted with a latex overlay to extend its service life.
Construction is scheduled to commence November 17 and is anticipated to be complete sometime in the autumn of 2027.
