To start with, the city has seen a record amount of small business support, with the city supplying METCO loans to 21 small businesses. Low interest loans totaling $5.1 million were also approved by the program’s board to go with the private leveraging of $59.3 million in investments.
Additionally, the city has seen announcements from a number of companies that are planning investments that, when totaled, come to $653 million for the opening of new locations, or the expansion of existing ones - with the creation of over 4,500 jobs across the Louisville metro area.
Greenberg stated:
"Great things are happening in Louisville. I want to thank the companies that are investing and growing in our city, as well as the Louisville Economic Development Alliance team who brought these projects to our city."
Job growth in one area prompts growth in other areas of a city’s economy, including printing services that see an increase in signage, employee handbooks, and more.
The major announcements the mayor was able to look back on in 2024 included an historic $616 million allocation provided by the Kentucky General Assembly, the city’s opening of its first new hospital in over 150 years, the groundbreaking amount of $200 million mixed-use developments, plans for a Sports Entertainment District adjacent to Slugger Field, and the commencement of construction of LOUMED Commons.
