The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has recently announced that the Solheim Cup will be hosted by the Valhalla Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course that opened in 1986. This will be the first major women’s golf competition held at the course.
Printing services frequently work hand-in-hand with golf courses both in their everyday operations and special events such as tournaments and fundraisers.
An international match-play event held biennially; the Solheim Cup has American LPGA Tour golfers competing against those from the Ladies European Tour is the women’s golfing equivalent of the men’s Ryder Cup. The 2028 playing of the Solheim Cup, which will take place either late summer or early fall, will be the event's 21st occurrence.
Mollie Marcoux Samaan, the LPGA commissioner commented in a new release:
“Showcasing our extraordinary athletes at venues that have hosted the world’s largest and most prestigious golf tournaments and that are recognizable to fans around the world will continue to elevate the LPGA Tour and the Solheim Cup. Hosting the 2028 Solheim Cup at Valhalla Golf Club, with its rich tradition of competitive excellence, exemplifies this commitment.”
Valhalla played host to the PGA Championship in 1996, 2000, 2014 and most recently 2024. Moreover, in 2004 and 2011 it hosted the Senior PGA Championship and in 2008 the men’s Ryder Cup.
