Grocery chain donates over 7K of canned goods

The Kentucky State Fair received 7,200 cans of food from Louisville Save A Lot stores, which then were used to build a display featuring a barn and silo in the Department of Agriculture’s West Hall at the Fair.

The canned goods donation was made up of Pickwell Farms canned vegetables and amounted to 300 cases. Save A Lot store owners partnered with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to acquire the canned goods and create the display.

Multiple opportunities exist for the use of banner printing services at State Fairs and other large event venues.

One store owner, Jenny Kute, explained that the donation was an excellent opportunity to highlight the brand of vegetables in a fun way while also making a positive impact on area residents. The Kute’s have been Louisville store owners for 70 years.

Mike Welch, another store owner, explained:

“We are so honored to be participating in this year’s Kentucky State Fair. As Save A Lot owners in Louisville, we pride ourselves on doing what we can to improve the communities where our stores operate. So when we were approached about this opportunity, we knew we had to participate.”

The silo and barn sculpture created from the donated cans of food will be on display through the last day of the fair – which is this Sunday, August 27 – after which the 7,200 cans be dispensed to an assortment of Louisville charities.
