Glenmary Country Club reopening plans come together

Eight years after its closing, Louisville's Glenmary Country Club is set to make a comeback.

Purchased for $625,000 by Chris Thieneman in 2021, the 45 acres country club has had around $2 million spent on its renovations. The club will feature a new restaurant to open sometime this month. Mulligan’s, as it will be known, will be co-owned by I Love Tacos owner Ernesto Rivera and will feature American and Mexican staples. The clubhouse bar has been relocated and now has a garage door that can be raised on warmer days.

The last obstacle to the Louisville country club’s renovation has been overcome, that of the Glenmary residents who had caused construction delays. Rivera explained:
"I don't think the community knew what we were going to do. I think they thought we were going to do something simple, maybe something they didn't like. Once they saw it, I believe we have almost everyone agreeing with what we're doing, and I'm sure they're going to love it too."

Adjacent to the restaurant will be an event area and a covered porch. Other features will include a speakeasy that sports a hidden entrance and exterior facilities that includes courts for pickleball, bocce ball, and volleyball.

A soft opening is planned exclusively for the club’s neighbors, prior to its official opening to the public.
