Upcoming festival welcomes change of season
The Overland Park Fall Festival is taking place at the end of the month, presented by the Downtown Overland Park Partnership and the Friends of OP Arts.
Free to attend, the festival promises to have something for everyone, no matter what their taste or age. The Farmers' Market will open at 8:00 AM and will feature the usual produce and products offered by local businesses. The arts and crafts fair will also open at the same time and run until 5:00 PM. The fair will feature vendors selling a variety of handmade items such as clothing, toys and artworks.
A popular part of the festival is the parade, which will begin at 10:00 AM. It will have the expected marching bands, vehicles, and dancers. The fee to participate in the parade is $75.
As the festival continues, there will be musical entertainment provided on several stages; performers will include Casi Joy, Funk Syndicate, and the Kansas City Latin Jazz Orchestra.
For the children, there will be activities such as face painting and bounce houses. Food trucks will also be on hand when the time comes for a bite to eat.
