Shift in seasons to be celebrated next month
The 53rd annual Fall Festival is returning to Overland Park this September, and is a presentation of the Downtown Orland Park Partnership.
The festival will feature a farmers' market, an arts and crafts fair, a parade, food for purchase, free concerts, and a 5K run. Musical entertainment will be provided by Trout Fishing in America. Children's activities will include an inflatables obstacle course, among other attractions, and the parade will begin at 10:00 am and will travel along 79th to Santa Fe. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the concerts.
The arts and crafts fair will feature a large number of local artisans who will be selling their works. Items for sale will probably include jewelry, paintings, sculptures, pottery, and handmade clothing. No doubt people will be able to pick up a unique, homemade item to take home with them or to give as a gift.
Artisans can rent booth from $85 for a 10x10 foot area up to $300 for a 10x20 foot deluxe booth. Food vendors can rent space for $150 for a 10x10 foot booth, and food trucks must pay a $90 fee.
Many of the partaking vendors will probably be working closely with Overland Park printing companies to get ready. This might include purchasing banners to promote their particular stall.
The Fall Festival will take place at Santa Fe Commons Park on September 28 beginning 6:30 am and is free to attend. For more information, call 913-642-2222.
