Overland Park set to do some stargazing
Amateur astronomers often welcome nights with a new moon, as this means there will be less light interfering with their views of the sky. An Overland Park venue has an activity planned for February that will take full advantage of this.
The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens has made plans to offer the public the chance to be part of an introduction to astronomy. The date has been scheduled to coincide with the new moon phase, and telescopes will be supplied for the attendees.
Starting in the early evening, participants will be able to use the telescopes provided to search for star clusters, galaxies, and other celestial objects that may be hard to spot when the moon is bright. The whole family is welcome, and there will be kid-friendly activities available. No additional charge is being levied for the session other than the venue’s general admission fees.
Taking part in a themed activity can be a fun way to get started with a new hobby or interest. Venues that host this sort of function can order special promotional products to distribute from area print shops.
This opportunity for those who are new to astronomy, as well as experienced stargazers, to enjoy a moonless sky will begin at 5:00 pm. It will be held on Friday, February 9.
