Overland Park outing to explore carnivorous plants
Overland Park plant lovers who enjoy learning about unusual species may find an upcoming activity quite fascinating.
Gardeners Connect is an area horticultural group, and one of the activities it has in the works is a visit to view an area collection of pitcher plants, which are native to North America. According to the event listing, this will take place during their peak bloom season, and there will also be sundews and Venus flytraps on display.
While the participants view the collection, they can ask questions and learn how these species have become insect eaters as an adaptation to living in bogs and other areas with poor soil. The activity is open to Garden Connect members, so anyone who is interested is encouraged to join the group in order to take part in the outing as well as other functions on the organization’s calendar.
Home horticulture is a hobby that tends to be quite popular, and many of those who engage in the activity enjoy learning as much as they can. Organized outings offer an opportunity for them to do so, and print shops will be happy to help.
This introduction to the carnivorous plants of North America will be running from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17. The venue will be released upon registration.
