Overland Park Downtown plans tree lighting event
Overland Park will be joining communities across the country that have plans in the works for some festive fun this November, and it is set to welcome one and all.
Downtown Overland Park offers lots of shopping and dining choices throughout the year, and it will soon play host to the Overland Park Mayor’s festival. It's free to participate, and all ages may enjoy the occasion.
The crowd will be assembling in Thomson Park for the tree lighting ceremony, and the mayor will be the one to throw the switch to dazzle spectators. While visitors socialize and catch up with neighbors, they can enjoy live music and spend some time with Santa, as well as costumed characters. There will also be lots of opportunities for photos.
After the ceremony, everyone is invited to linger, and can visit the small businesses that make up Overland Park’s downtown core.
The holiday shopping season can be a real boon for small businesses, and many plan social activities to help draw shoppers in. A variety of decor options will be on offer at local poster printing companies.
Thompson Park is set to bring the local community together for an evening of festivities on November 17th. It will start at 5:00pm, and the full list of agendas will be available on the Downtown Overland Park website, along with the organizer’s contact details.
