What's Happening in Overland Park, KS…

Kansas to light up for holidays

The holidays have already started with a couple of extraordinary light shows that will help brighten up the long winter evenings.

The first show is Winter Magic, which will be running until January. Swope Park in Kansas City is hosting this drive-through Christmas light display and proceeds will be donated to the KC Parks Summer Camp Scholarship Fund. There are almost a mile of lights, as well as spinning trees, a light tunnel, and an elf toy factory. Pixel Town will be where the fun is.

Also continuing until the end of this year, the 33rd annual Christmas in the Park celebration is taking place at Longview Lake Park. A presentation of the Jackson County Park and Recreation Department, this year’s will be solely drive-through. There are over 500,000 lights and hundreds of animated figures to enjoy. Admission is free of charge but donations will be gratefully accepted.

Both events will no doubt attract people from all over the area, including nearby Overland Park. Stationery printers are often asked to provide marketing materials.

Winter Magic will continue until January 2, 2021. Admission is $30 per car, $30 for a limo or van, and $40 for a bus. Visit the official event website to learn more

Christmas in the Park will be held until December 31 beginning at 5:30 PM each night. Call 816-503-4805 for the latest information.
