Fun on six legs in Overland Park
While spending time with some creepy crawlies may not be everyone’s cup of tea, many kids are fascinated by them, and an Overland Park agricultural operation will allow them to meet some up close.
National Pollinators Week will be celebrated in June, and it draws attention to the importance of bees, butterflies, birds, beetles, bats, and other horticultural helpers. Deanna Rose Children’s farmstead has decided to join the fun by hosting a special activity for families, and the session will be three and a half hours long.
The attendees at the June Bug Ball will be able to make discoveries about their six- and eight-legged friends, and it will introduce kids to environmental stewardship in a way that is intended to be exciting and engaging to them. They are invited to dress as their favorite insect or arachnid, and there will be crafting, entertainment, and even a petting zoo with live bugs for the kids to meet and learn about.
Giving children an opportunity to learn about the world around them can foster an appreciation of nature. Preparing take-home kits filled with learning materials, promotional pens, and other corporate gifts may encourage them to continue making discoveries on their own.
This afternoon of fun is set for June 23, beginning at 1:00 pm. The Farmstead is located at 13800 Switzer Road.
