Township to host recycling event

Orland Park’s township is proud to announce that it will be hosting an event to recycle items, and help residents get rid of unwanted electronics and other items in an environmentally sustainable way.

ProShred trucks will soon be on site to help people with shredding old documents. Each individual is allowed to bring no more than five full banker Boxes. The township pointed out that this event is not intended for businesses. Items that are recyclable usually indicate as much in their Logo Design.

The event was made public in a press release from Supervisor Paul O’Grady, who acknowledged that over recent months, people may have accrued a number of documents that need destroying, especially if they have done a lot of home cleaning during the stay-at-home order, and that the township is pleased to help dispose of them securely.

The release also states that people can bring in numerous types of electronics. Coupons will have to be purchased for computer and television screens. The cost of the coupon will be based on the screens' diagonal length. Screens smaller than 21 inches will require $25 coupons while screens larger than 21 inches will require coupons worth $35. The coupons can be purchased online or at the event.

The event will be held at the Orland Highway Department this Saturday, September 19, starting at 8:00 am and running until noon.
