Time to trim the trees in Orland Park

As part of Orland Park’s celebration of the holiday season, the village will be giving local groups and organizations an opportunity to put their own spin on tree decorating.

This year will be the third for the Community Tree Trim. Boy and girl scouts, community groups, service organizations, parents, coaches, teachers, and youth leaders are invited to adopt one of the trees that will be provided and make it their own by decorating it in their own unique way.

The festive display will be located at the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink, and even Santa himself has decided to come into town and check it out for himself. The public is encouraged to bring along their cameras and have their photos taken with him. Pictures from a day like this can be used in community Calendars and other marketing items that promote events to the local area.

Anyone who is interested in decking one of the evergreens out in their own special style is asked to complete a registration form. They are available on the village’s website, and the trees will be allocated on the basis of first come, first served.

The day for the event has been set as December 11, but any group or individual that cannot make that date is welcome to decorate the tree that has been assigned to them anytime between Thanksgiving weekend and December 24.
