Plenty at steak for Orland Park veterans

Veterans from the community of Orland Park are invited to head out and enjoy the Orland Park Veterans Commission’s 16th annual steak fry.

The event is intended to honor and say thank you to vets while giving them a chance to socialize and have a good meal. Tickets for the afternoon are $10 each, and they include beverages and the dinner as well. Soft drinks, beer, and wine are included in the cost of the ticket.

Along with the food and friendship, there will be live music. Arrangements have been made for Kate and Matt Meyrick to perform from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm.

According to the chair of the Orland Park Veterans Commission, there is a longstanding tradition of steak fries in the military. He noted that a chance to sit with one’s comrades and enjoy a steak dinner was always a welcome treat for those who were deployed overseas, and that they hope to capture the same spirit with this event. A printing company can provide custom Drinkware for the afternoon that includes the Veterans Commission’s logo.

The dinner is open to only those veterans for Orland Park. Those who wish to buy tickets for the fry, which is scheduled to take place this Sunday, October 18, can do so from the cashier’s office at the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, although they must do it before this Wednesday, October 14. Those who would like more information are invited to call 708/403-6115.
