Orland Park to run pet-focused event

Orland Park will be hosting a celebration for pets and their families in mid-September.

Orland Township’s Pet-Palooza is a single-day party for pet owners and well-behaved furry friends. The event combines vendors, charities, adoption facilities, games, contests, prizes, music, pet-focused products, costumed characters, face painting, food, inflatable playscapes, and train rides. The goal is to give residents a place to go and have a good time with other pet lovers, while also giving adoptable animals a chance to find their forever homes.

Attendees are encouraged to put on a costume and can also dress up their pets if they wish. There will be competitions in six different categories. Space in each is limited, with admission being based on who registers first between 12:00 pm and 1:15 pm. Dogs are limited to three categories each, with all events starting at 1:45 pm. The top three highest scoring in each contest will win a ribbon. These categories are Quick Sit, Best Voice, Best Trick, Bobbing for Hotdogs, Best Dressed, and Fast Finish.

An area for children with activities will be set up, along with a market area, and rest spots for the pups and other pets. Vendors at events like this will often keep Promotional Products with them to give attendees as a way to inform them about their business. Entry to the party is free, but either a financial donation or a 5lb dog food bag for the Orland Township Pet Pantry is hugely appreciated. The event will be at the Township Grounds from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 16.
