A local store will be holding a creative class in Orland Park in late October.
Make and Take: 8” Bowl Turning with Carbide Tools is an activity for those with some previous skill. In this lesson, just as the title describes, the participants will work with a piece of wood and several pieces of equipment to craft an item they can both bring home with them and use later.
Finishing and chucking are among the techniques that will be used in the process. The instructor will also talk about what is available for sale in the business in terms of materials/tools. In order to provide the best chance for safe and detailed instruction, class sizes are smaller. Requirements for masks will vary depending upon the protocol in place at the time of the event. The fee will cover both the teaching and the final product. Gloves will be handed out in the instance that the tools will be shared, however, in most cases each student will have access to their own.
The venue/hosting company is Rockler Woodworking and Hardware. Participants will need to avoid wearing open shoes and loose clothing, as well as tying up hair/rolling sleeves away. Tickets for the lesson cost $120 and can be purchased through EventBrite.
Flyer printing will often be used in promotion of similar events. The class will run from 2:00pm to 4:30pm on October 22nd.
