Day of fall family fun planned for Orland Park

Orland Park residents of all ages will soon have an opportunity to enjoy some fall themed family fun, right in their own community.

Centennial Park will be hosting an event that will celebrate the arrival of autumn. Kids can visit the Great Pumpkin Patch, build their very own scarecrow to take home, and create an assortment of crafts.

There will be ponies on site so the little ones can enjoy a ride, and a hayride is also on the agenda for the afternoon. The foodies in the crowd can put their stomachs to the test in the pie-eating contest, and even four-legged visitors can get in on the fun by taking part in the pet costume parade.

To help take the chill out of the early fall weather, a bonfire will be built, and those who come out will be able to roast marshmallows. There will be a treasure hunt in the straw corral, and young and old alike are invited to try their luck at guessing the weight of the pumpkin and also how many candies are in the jar.
