Well-known Oak Brook property finds buyer

What was once the global headquarters for McDonald’s Corp. on an 80-acre site in Oak Brook, a village in Oakbrook Terrace, has been purchased by John Paul DeJoria, an entrepreneur and self-made billionaire.

The site includes the former campus office building of McDonald’s, the Hyatt Lode Hotel, and the Hamburger University training facility. DeJoria commented on the beauty of the site and of the its significance to the community. He plans to continue that legacy by welcoming the next generation of companies and special guests to the property.

Representatives from McDonald’s have been working with commercial real estate firm JLL to find someone to purchase the property since the fast food giant moved its headquarters a year ago. McDonald's vice president of facilities and systems, Joe Endress, commented that it was important to find someone who understood the potential of the property.

The community can be informed of such changes and projects and kept abreast of their progress through banner printing and other printing services.

The Hyatt Lodge will continue its operation and Americas group president of Hyatt, Pete Sears, expects that DeJoria will be able to enhance the guest experience at the hotel. The hotel is connected to the existing training facility by a covered passageway. Along with the former global headquarters, these buildings are located in a wooded setting with two lakes.
