Mediterranean restaurant to open in Oakbrook Terrace area

The Purple Pig, a popular restaurant in Chicago, will be opening its first location outside the city in Oak Brook.

Residents of nearby Oakbrook Terrace who have dined at this James Beard award-winning restaurant may be interested in patronizing one closer to their homes.

The location of this new restaurant will be in the Oakbrook Center Mall in a space that was once occupied by the furniture showroom, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. It will span 11,000 square feet and will have a full-service restaurant, patio seating, and The Purple Pig Market, offering pizza by the slice, pastries, coffee, and gelato.

Local Print shops can help spread the news about such popular establishments and their opening in a different part of a region.

The menu of The Purple Pig has a wide variety of offerings. It focuses on seasonal items, such as Salt Rosted Beets and Roasted Squash in the winter, and sweet and juicy tomato salads in the summer. Fresh seafood plays an important role in its offerings, as well as many kinds of charcuterie and wines by the glass or bottle. Desserts are made in house and after-dinner specialty drinks, spirits, and wines are also available.

The Purple Pig first opened in 2009 on Michigan Avenue and become known for its Mediterranean menu. In 2014, it won a James Beard Award for Rising Chef.

The Oakbrook location is expected to open later this year.
