The Purple Pig, a Mediterranean eatery, will be opening a second location in Oak Brook. Residents of nearby Oakbrook Terrace who are familiar with this restaurant might be interested in trying out their menu at this new location.
The restaurant will be in what was once the furniture showroom of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in Oakbrook Center. The space spans 11,000 square feet and will seat 300 people. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are available, as well as private dining areas.
The eatery will have the same full-service dining experience, along with a grab-and-go market that will offer pastries, slices of pizza, coffee, imported private-label items, and gelato.
Tony Mantuano, a James Beard Award-winning chef, and his wife Cathy will be joined by Thomas Shubalis and his daughter, Marianna Shubalis Bannos, in running the restaurant. This team has built the first location along Michigan Avenue into an international culinary destination.
The menu will be similar to the one downtown offering plates rotating by the season, such as pig ears and bone marrow, as well as cheese and cured-in-house charcuterie and fish. Guests will be able to order wine by the glass and the bottle. The gelato will be made in house, in addition to other sweets.
Such establishments can benefit from flying printing to help promote their location and unique offerings.
The Purple Pig is slated to open early in 2026.
