Lake County’s Making Strides walk returns in October 2026, bringing together survivors, supporters, and community members for a morning dedicated to ending breast cancer. The event takes place at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville.
Participants can get involved by forming a team, registering as individuals, volunteering on event day, or hosting a fundraiser. Organizers encourage participants to register online before event day to avoid lines and gain early access to fundraising tools. Once registered, individuals and teams can send thank-you emails, invite team members, and connect Facebook fundraisers.
Community Impact Sponsor Karen & Jason Sussman Family Foundation and Pink Impact Sponsor City of Hope support the event.
The event site opens at 7:30 a.m., with a survivor and thriver photo at 8:25 a.m. A brief program and warm-up follow at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
Clear flyer printing helps promote the walk across community centers, clinics, and local businesses, ensuring consistent branding and key details such as date, time, and route information are easy to read.
Parking is available at Independence Grove Forest Preserve. Pets, tobacco products (including vapes), and alcohol are not permitted at the event.
The walk will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL.
